Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by the Rwanda Safaris guide and transfer you for simple city tour before heading to Volcanoes National Park which is the best destination for Gorilla watching in the wilderness of Virunga Mountains.
You will be arriving in the evening hours and check in at the accommodations which is close to the volcanoes national park headquarter offices as you await for the unique gorilla watching with Rwanda Safaris.
Day2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes national park and Visit to the gorilla Guardian Village
After early breakfast head to the park offices in Kinigi for briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations in the magical Volcanoes National Park. The Registration formalities will be handled by the safari guide and trust him with your passports , be split into small group get allocated to the gorilla family and head to the park for your memorable gorilla Watching . The activity takes around 4-5 hours depending on the size of the group and the speed of the trekkers, Later when you return back and head to the lunch for the warm lunch and in the afternoon go for the cultural experiences in the local community of Rwanda. A visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village will reward you with an understanding of how the Rwandan way of life is and the marriage customs along other practices , return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Ellen De Generes Campus
After the morning break fast at the lodge you will head back to the park headquarter for the unique experience of the Primates ( Golden Monkeys) which is also similar to the mountain gorilla trekking process , duration lasts btn 3-4 hours and return to the lodge for lunch and later proceed to the Ellen De Generes Campus that is the historical event that teaches about the Conservation of the Mountain Gorillas by Dian Fossey.
You will make donations to the campus and later proceed back to the lunch for the dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Twin Lakes boat Canoes and Transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge, head for the unique of the twin lakes which are found within the Volcanoes National Park Community , you will enjoy local Canoe boat for the 1 hour and later you will transfer to Mgahinga National Park which is located in Uganda.
Make sure you have applied for the East African Tourists visa ( as it involves border crossing) via Cyanika Border and you will head to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay in Kisoro Town .
Note : Optional visit to the crater lakes within the region if time allows.
After Morning breakfast, you will head to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for breifying about the Golden monkey Habituation experience in the wilderness. Golden monkey habituation makes you stay longer with the golden monkeys more than the normal golden monkey trekking, you enjoy almost full day with these great apes right from the time when they are still in their nest up the time, they will be breast feeding their young ones and other daily activities, you stay with them for 4-6 hours.
After the golden monkey habituation, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park which is the best destination known for gorilla trekking in Uganda- you will be visiting the southern sector which is popular for gorilla habituation experiences in Uganda. Upon arrival, you will check in at the lodge for relaxation, overnight stay and dinner.
Dinner and Overnight accommodation
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi impenetrable National Park
After an early morning breakfast with packed lunch , you will head back to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarter for the briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations. These dos and donts are the same like those of Rwanda. After enter into the jungle to search for the apes with experienced Uganda wildlife authority Ranger guides that have the campus of the forest in their heads.
The gorilla tracking will take you between 3 -10 hours depending on the movements therefore go prepared for either short walk or long walk, after finding them, spend approximate 1 hour with them.
After the relaxed breakfast, you will start on the drive to Connect to Kibale forest national park which is the most prominent destination for the chimpanzee watching in Uganda. The drive may take you through Queen Elizabeth national Park head through the craters to connect to the lodges.
Kibale forest national park is the primate haven of Uganda with 13 primate species recorded including chimpanzees, red Colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys red tailed monkeys and potto’s of different types in evening relax overnight.
Leave for morning chimpanzee habituation experience which will make you stay longer with the chimps more than the normal chimpanzee trekking, you enjoy almost 6 hours with these great apes right from the time when they are still in their nest up the time they will be breast feeding their young ones and other daily activities, you stay with them for 4-6 hours, after proceed to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
You will have breakfast at the lodge and start on the transfer to Kigali Rwanda, You will have lunch at Kabale town, before you proceed to cross to Katuna Border to connect to the capital city of Rwanda. You will be transferred to the Airport for your departure back home.
