9 Days Gorilla Trek Uganda Rwanda Congo

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport in Uganda.

Upon arrival at Entebbe international Airport, you will be welcomed by the team of Rwanda Safaris and transfer to your hotel within or close to entebbe for the overnight stay . Upon check in at the hotel, you will be briefed about the travel plan , history , culture and things to do on Safari tour to Uganda Rwanda and Congo with our knowledgeable Safari guide.  Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel Kigo

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi National Park

You will have breakfast at the lodge and depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to enjoy gorilla trekking in Uganda. You will have various stop overs to enjoy the scenic drive including the Equator and Lunch in Mbarara town before proceeding to adventure to the impenetrable National Park accommodation that must be located close to the Gorilla trekking place.   Dine at your place of accommodation and relax the rest of the evening as you prepare for a thrilling experience of Mountain Gorilla Tracking the following day, the reality is that  tonight you actually are sleeping within an African Rain forest which is habitat to half the population of endangered Mountain Gorillas world.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Uganda .

After an early breakfast, head to the Headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for an orientation plus meeting the guides as well as separation into the groups basing on which gorilla trekking Uganda group you are to be tracking . From there you will set off for your thrill experience of the Gorillas in the Mist. The tracking / trekking can entail some thorough climbing as well as hiking although when you come face to face with the tranquil yet potent Mountain Gorillas, watching them only a few meters away from you observing the group, the baby with the mothers, the gorillas partaking their every day routine just right in front of you is all very overwhelming.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Rwanda

After Breakfast at the lodge , you will head for the briefing for gorilla tracking starts at 7:00 am. This briefing is organized by park officials at the headquarters in Kinigi. All trackers must be at the park offices and should attend the briefing to get an overview of what to expect during the activity.

As we already stated earlier, there are 10 habituated gorilla families in the volcanoes national park and you will be assigned one based on your overall fitness. Once the briefing is completed, you will be led into the forest by park officials, start on the search for the Mountain gorillas which may last for 2-4 hours and later you will return to the lodge for lunch , and later option for the visit to the Gorilla guardian Village or Ellen De Generes Campus.

Day 5: Golden Monkey Tracking & transfer to Democratic Republic of Congo.

Have your breakfast at the lodge and then go for a golden monkey experience in the park rain forests granting you a chance to closely see the shy and cute primates as they swing on the tree branches.

After, you drive back to the lodge for lunch and later check out for your transfer to Democratic Republic of Congo with overnight stay at Serena Hotel Goma.

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park

You will have breakfast at the lodge and then drive to the park  headquarters for the briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and regulations in Virunga national park . Depending on the gorilla family allocated , your safari guide shall transfer you to the closest point to your start of the gorilla trekking in Congo.  At 8:00am you will start your journey through the forest search but not only will you view gorillas but you will encounter others mammals such as monkey, Different vegetation covers ( plants and flowers), bird species. The time spent with gorillas after allocating a gorilla family is 1 hour . After long day of hiking gorillas you will head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Climbing  Mount Nyiragongo

You will enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then start on the journey connecting to Kibati Station which is the starting point for the Nyiragongo Hike in Virunga National park . Your expected to be at the head trail at 8:00am for the briefing about the rules and regulations , selections of the porters and registration with the park offices where you will be required to present the Nyiragongo permits and the passports.

You will start on the hike which will take you 7 hours to summit including lunch en route as you will have your Mikeno package.  Meals are prepares by the park team but however you can also carry your food if you wish too. You should carry warm clothes and rain coat because of the changing climate. You will have overnight at summit which has amazing active volcanoes in Africa

Dinner and overnight at Nyiragongo Cabin Shelters.

Day 8: Descend Nyiragongo Mountain

You will enjoy break fast at the summit and you will start to descend the Nyiragongo Mountain back to Kibati Station where your Safari guide is waiting to transfer you to the town of Goma, cross to Rwanda in Gisenyi Side , Relax at the beaches of Lake Kivu in Rwanda. Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel Gisenyi.

Day 9: Transfer to Kigali Airport for your evening flight back home.

Have your breakfast at the lodge and later check out for your transfer back to Kigali for your departure flight. If you arrive on time , you may go for city tour of Kigali . Lunch will be en route
