7 Days Mount Karisimbi hike & Gorilla Trekking

7 Days Rwanda safari adventure features mountain gorilla tracking, Climbing mountain Karisimbi– Africa’s fifth highest mountain and a boat ride Lake Kivu.

Mount Karisimbi is the highest of the volcanoes found within the Virunga region and is the eleventh highest in Africa. This inactive volcano is found in the volcanoes national park and on the border between Rwanda up to 4,507 meters, mount Karisimbi is surrounded by other neighbouring volcanoes like Mikeno, Nyiragongo and Bisoke. Visitors to the volcanoes national park in Rwanda usually combine gorilla trekking with a Karisimbi mountain hike. Climbing Mount Karisimbi can be a strenuous but special experience.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will meet and greet with our representative then drive to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Dinner only

Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Awake to a relaxed breakfast and do a City tour, where you will visit the Kandt’s Natural History Museum, crafts shops, and Gisozi genocide memorial site. After lunch drive to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge. FB

Day 3: Gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Have an early breakfast and gather at the park headquarters for briefing, you will then go in the mist to track the rare mountain gorillas which may take from 2 hours or more depending on the location of the gorillas. Return to the lodge and wind your day with traditional dance performances at the lodge. Dinner and overnight. FB

Day 4: Hike to Mount Karisimbi

After breakfast, assemble at the headquarters for briefing, your selected ranger will lead you to hike the snow-capped mount Karisimbi taking the Bisoke trail, the hike can take about 6 hours but still depends on the pace ot the hiker, you will camp at an altitude of 37oo meters for an overnight stay. FB

Day 5: Karisimbi Peak

Today the trek starts early to the peak of the snow-capped volcano, enjoy breathtaking views and the cool atmosphere atop. Then descend to the foothills where your guide will be waiting to transfer you to Lake Kivu for dinner and overnight at the Hotel. FB

Day 6: Lake Kivu – Gisenyi

Today is for purely relaxing with and enjoying the sparkling natural beauty of Lake Kivu. Although you could do optional excursions such as boat ride, visit the hot spring. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel. FB

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast you drive to Kigali, do a city tour visiting the museum, craft shops, and genocide memorial site. Depending on the time of your flight, transfer to the Airport for departure. BB
