Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bukavu

After break fast at the lodge, you will start on the travel to connecting to Democratic republic of Congo, which is the only destination that hosts the Eastern Lowland Gorillas in kahuzi biega National park . All our congo safaris ran by Rwanda Safaris starts from the Kigali city tour and connect via Nyungwe forest national Park which is located at Cyangungu side .

You will start your day in a relaxed drive to connect to Bukavu town which is located in Eastern Congo, the journey takes 8-9 hours drive connecting via Rusizi border. The border crossing is takes between 30 minutes to 1 hours, and you will access the city of bukavu with 15 minutes drive to connect to the Hotel.

Day 2 : Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park.

At 6;30am , you will set off from the hotel and start on the 2 hours drive to Kahuzi Biega National Park which is re known destination for the Eastern Lowland gorillas , and you will arrive at the time for briefing and enjoyment of coffee as your briefed about the dos and donts while in the jungle with the rangers to trek for the gorillas . Depending on the selected gorilla family of your visit, you will drive to the starting point where you will enter into the jungle and start on the search for the gorillas, and once found you will spend one hour watching them play and feed in the wilderness and after you will return back to the starting point and transfer back to the park headquarter with your rangers , guides .

Transfer to Bukavu hotel for dinner and overnight stay .

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast at 8:00am , you will head to the border to cross into Rwanda upon payment of the Rwanda Visa connecting to the best re known destination for mountain Gorilla Trekking, You will drive via the lake Kivu Scenic drive to connect to Gisenyi city where you will enjoy lunch and afternoon proceed to connect to Volcanoes National Park located in Musanze district. Upon arrival you will be checked in at the hotel and relax in the evening hours at the hotel.

Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking  & Transfer to Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast , you will drive to Volcanoes National Park headquarter for the briefing about the mountain gorilla trekking rules and regulations , conservation method that was applied by Dian Fossey during the conservation of the mountain gorillas which is different from the one that was applied by Adrien Deschryver on the habituation of the Eastern Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park & Maiko National Park all in Congo.

After you will register with the park and you will be allocated the gorilla family  you will be visiting , later you will drive to the starting point for the gorilla trekking , enter into the jungle to start on the search for the gorillas, which will last for 3-4 hours depending on the family allocated, once found you will stay with them for one hour and later return to the starting point where the Safari guide will transfer you to connect to Uganda via Cyanika Border. Upon crossing the border you will be checked in at your hotel within Kisoro town for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga

After morning breakfast at the lodge , you will start on the drive to Mgahinga National Park headquarter for the briefing about the gorilla trekking rules which are similar to the habituation skills applied by Dian Fossey in Rwanda, After you will enter into the jungle to start on the search for the gorillas in the wilderness , in the terrain that is similar to that of Volcanoes National Park since its located within the virunga Massif.

The duration for the gorilla trekking in Mgahinga lasts for 2-5 hours depending on the primate movement and after you will return , head for lunch at the lodge and later transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda which is not connect to Virunga Massif and its the only destination that offers gorilla Habituation Experiences within the region .

Day 6: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi impenetrable National Park

After Morning breakfast at 6:30am , you will head to the park headquarter for the briefing about the gorilla Habituation rules and regulations which are different from those the gorilla trekking since these gorillas your visiting are in the process of being open for the public visit, it Starts early compared to the gorilla trekking and you will spend with the gorillas 4 hours in the wilderness with the experienced Uganda wildlife Authority.

Upon return for the experience, head to the lodge for the relaxation in the evening .

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali.

You will wake up in cool morning and enjoy your breakfast, start on the drive to connect to Kigali city which is located 5 hours drive from Rushaga Sector. Upon arrival in Kigali , you will enjoy lunch and after go for the city tour to explore the various places. Later you will be dropped at the Airport for your flight back home.
