Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, city tour and drive to Nyungwe forest national park
You will be picked up Rwanda Safaris guide who will brief you about your 4 days Rwanda Congo Safari tour Encompassing the visit to the primates in Nyungwe forest & Kahuzi Biega National Park in Congo. After, you will start off the drive to the southern region with an en route city tour where you will visit places like the Butare museum and the King’s place and then proceed with the drive after your delicious lunch. You will arrive at Nyungwe forest national park in the evening and check in at the selected accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Transfer to Bukavu
Wake up for your early breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking experience. After, you will set off for the experience in the thick rain forests of the park in search of the species. When found, you will have an hour to observe them as you enjoy their lifestyles like playing along the trees, eating and others. Later, get back to the lodge for lunch and refreshment as you prepare to connect to D.R. Congo via Rusizi border. After border crossing, you will drive to your accommodation of booking for lunch and then spend your evening relaxing or go for any optional activity.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking at Kahuzi Biega national park
After early morning breakfast, and with your picnic lunch we then take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing where we meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to a spot where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. The terrain is rough and muddy calling for physical fitness. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile. It is recommended that you take plenty of water with you on the trek. Cameras and plenty of fast-speed films are recommended.
Being a tropical rain forest, it may rain at no notice, hence need to bring with you waterproof clothing, including zip lock bags for cameras and film. Others to come with include; sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat. The maximum time spent with the gorillas is 1 hour. and return back to Bukavu for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Drive back to Kigali
Wake up for your delicious breakfast at the lodge and prepare for your transfer back to Kigali via Rusizi border. You will have an en route lunch and arrive in Kigali in the late evening hours for your drop off at Kigali international airport for your departure flight or hotel for an overnight.
