10 Days Gorilla Trek & Masai Mara

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Nairobi International Airport

Upon arrival Nairobi international Airport , you will be welcomed by the Rwanda Safaris guide who will brief you about the Kenya part , offering you great interesting history about the republic of Kenya , People cultural and other developments within the country . Later you will transfer to your hotel in Nairobi where you will spend the night .

If time allows you will go for Nairobi city tour to learn more about the capital city of Kenya and great option to explore the night life of Kenya is available with your experienced Guide.  Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Nairobi

Day 2: Transfer to Masai Mara National Park

You will be picked up by your Safari guide after breakfast at the hotel and start to drive to Masai Mara Game reserve, which is the popular Game reserve that hosts the big five in the Kenya . The Drive takes 5-6 hours with various stop overs for drinks and lunch en route connecting to the Park . The Magical Masai Mara game reserve is located in Narok country and is managed by the Maasai People . You will arrive in the afternoon where you will proceed directly to the Hotel for check in and relax in the afternoon.

Day 3; Game drive in Masai Mara

You will set off from the hotel at 6:40am and head for the morning game drive in the famous Masai Mara where you will search for the big five animals and other wildlife animals within the reserve and this will be full day game drive as you will carry your lunch from the hotel to have a complete feel of the reserve , relaxing the trees in the middle of the reserve with the safari guide on your watch, later you will enjoy the lunch meal and proceed to search for the animals to the maximum enjoyment to reach to Mara river , heading to the border of Masai Mara Game reserve and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania that have the same vegetation cover and only separated by the Mara River.

There is an option to drive you upto the Mara River border and head to the no mans land between Kenya and Tanzania where you will reach at the border of Kenya and Tanzania but you will not cross into Tanzania as its not allowed since the border was closed. Later you will return to the lodge for the evening relaxation , where you will also spot various elephants and lions that come close to the lodge . Dinner and Overnight stay.

Day 4: Full Day Game drive in Masai Mara Game reserve

Depending on the previous day game drive, you will go for the morning game drive to the other sector of the game reserve to search for more wildlife watching in the wilderness of Masai Mara Game reserve , the duration of the watching will depend on your interest and needs of the day with the Safari guide. Later you will return to the lodge for lunch , you will visit the river back to see the crocodile and hippos, take a simple nature walk around the river connecting you to the Masai Mara triangle .  Late transfer back to the hotel.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National park

After morning breakfast , you will have en route game drive as you exist the game reserve to connect to Lake Nakuru and you will have a stop over in the Masai Mara Community for the cultural experience, and later proceed to drive to connect to Lake Nakuru where you will be checked in at the hotel for lunch and relax at the lodge

Day 6: Walking Safari in Lake Nakuru national Park

You will enjoy breakfast and later head for the walking Safari in the Famous Lake Nakuru where you will spot other wildlife animals in the Park and Birds that include the migratory ones that fly to the location on seasons. You will return to the lodge to relax and enjoy the weather of the Place. Serena is the most recommended Accommodation.

Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi for Flight

You will transfer back to Nairobi in the morning for the evening flight to Connect to Kigali the land of thousand hills , you will be checked on at Rwanda Air or Kenya Airways depending on the flight that you will have booked , connect to Kigali where you will be welcomed by the Rwanda Safaris guide , brief you about the Rwanda Safari , history of Rwanda including the 1994 Genocide memorials, Check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight .

Note : In case your interested in learning about the Kigali night life, you will be taken by the guide at the night clubs and other happening places, later return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked up by the guide at 8:00am Rwanda time and head for the city tour of Kigali which is the capital city where you will visit the Mount Kigali , Craft markets, Local Centers and Genocide memorials , enjoy lunch and take drive to connect to volcanoes National Park in Rwanda which is located 3 hours drive from Kigali the capital city , where you will be checked at the various hotels for dinner and overnight .

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes

After morning breakfast at the lodge you will head to the park headquarters for the briefing about the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking , conservation process and how the gorillas are habituated in the wilderness of Rwanda ( Virunga Mountains ) Upon completion of the registration , you will head to the starting point for the gorilla trekking where the guide will wait for you as you enter into the jungle with the park ranges to search for the primates of Volcanoes Rwanda.

Upon them being found , you will be given one hour to watch them play , feed and later return to the point where you left the guide to transfer you back to the hotel for a hot meal.  In the afternoon you will visit the gorilla Guardian Village which is the cultural centre in Volcanoes . Learn about the marriage practices, Way of life , Society arrangement , Courts and many more , later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Golden Monkey & Transfer to Kigali .

You will enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and later head back to the park headquarter for the briefing about the conservation of the Golden Monkey which are unique primates that are only found within Virunga Mountains that are shared between Uganda, Rwanda & Congo .

The Golden Monkey are shy animals and not like the Mountain gorillas , you will also be given one hour with them and later descend to the starting point for the trekking where you will find the driver guide and transfer you for lunch at the lodge , later proceed to Kigali for the flight back home .

Your advised to book a night flight since the drive from Musanze to Kigali is 3 hours.
