Itinerary

This is the shortest gorilla tour in the Republic of Rwanda. The trip starts in Kigali – the capital of Rwanda and then head to the home of the endangered mountain gorillas – Volcanoes national park in the northwestern region of the country. Gorilla trekking experience grants you a unique opportunity to have an up-close encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat in the shortest time. Volcanoes national park is a home to 10 habituated mountain gorilla groups which can be visited everyday with each group being faced by a maximum of 8 people.

Day 1 Gorilla trekking experience

The 1-day gorilla trekking experience starts and ends in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. In the morning, our driver will pick you up from the hotel and brief you about the journey as your drive to Volcanoes national park. When you reach the park offices, you will have a pre- trek brief from the park offices and then assigned to the respective mountain gorilla group to track.

The gorilla trekking experience takes between 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on the location of the apes. After the allocation of the primates, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour in their presence as you enjoy their daily lifestyles like feeding, breastfeeding, playing and others. During this good time, you are also allowed to take pictures with no flash.

After an hour, you will move out of the forest to Kigali for your departure flight.

Note: For one to take part in the gorilla trekking experience, he or she must possess a trekking permit at USD 1500 per person.
