Rwanda Gorilla & Burundi Safari

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali & Kigali City Tour

Upon Arrival at Kigali international airport , you will be welcomed by the Rwanda Safaris guide and you will start your tour with an exploratory adventure of Kigali City visiting the local markets, Genocide memorials , Craft shops and later transfer to Volcanoes National Park located in the northern province of Rwanda known as the home of the mountains gorillas, Golden Monkey , & Virunga Mountaineering .

You will be checked in at your accommodation.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Tracking

You will have early morning breakfast at the lodge and proceed to the park headquarter for briefing about the golden monkey tracking rules and regulation.After you will proceed to the starting point for the golden monkey tracking, Golden monkey tracking is not as exhausting as gorilla trekking because the monkeys do not build new nests everyday so there is no need for per-trackers to trace them every morning. After they are found , you will return to the lodge for Lunch and later head to the Gorilla Guardian Village for the cultural experience within the local community. In the evening you will return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Wake up for breakfast and head back to the park headquarters for registration and briefing about the enticing gorilla trekking  rules and regulations. After you will head to the starting point for the gorilla trekking where you leave your safari guide,  You will start on the trek to search for the Mountain Gorillas which are unique creatures that are classified as endangered species, you may take around 3-4 hours to find them and once you come face to face with the gorillas, you will take one hour taking photos and videos as you watch them play, feed and later return to the for lunch and in the afternoon visit the Ellen De Generes Campus for donations and understanding the work of Dian Fossey.  In the evening return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight .

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali

After Breakfast at the lodge , you will head to visit the twin lakes with boat canoe on the lakes, Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo are twin lakes in Rwanda and these are two beautiful crater lakes that are bordering each other thus being called twin lakes after which you will have lunch and later head back to kigali Rwanda for your dinner and overnight.

Day 5:Transfer to Burundi

After Morning breakfast , you will set off from Kigali heading to Burundi via Nemba Border that is located 60kms from Kigali Rwanda, Upon arrival , you will clear with the customs , and proceed to Gitega Town in Burundi . Upon arrival at the hotel you will enjoy lunch and later enjoy the Drum and cultural experiences with your Safari guide . After you will return to the lodge and check in for dinner and overnight.

Burundi is also known as the heart of Africa that is located within the East African Community and on the shores of Lake Tanganyika that is shared by Burundi & Tanzania. its well known for good climate  which makes it the idea for summer holidays.

Gitega Town is the capital city of Burundi and It is located in the middle of the country, at roughly the same distance between the commercial capital, Bujumbura. it becomes the easiest town to stop when your from Kigali Rwanda.

Day:6 Visiting Water falls & Transfer back to Bujumbura City.

You will wake and enjoy morning breakfast before heading for the nature walk to enable you visit the falls with strong water points as you will explore the five water falls of Nyakayi 1, Nyakayi 2, Karera 1, Karera 2 and Mwaro and even explore the source of the Nile in Burundi. You will head back to the hotel for early lunch before heading for the 6 hours drive to connect to Bujumbura City which is the capital city of Burundi. Dinner and overnight at the lodge .

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibira National park

You will have breakfast at the lodge and transfer to kibira National park which is the home for the chimpanzee watching in Burundi .  The Kibira National Park is a national park in northwestern Burundi. Overlapping four provinces and covering 400 km², Kibira National Park lies atop the mountains of the Congo-Nile Divide and its connected to Nyungwe forest national park. Chimpanzee tracking starts at 8:00 am and later you will head back to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 8: Bujumbura City & Lake Tanganyika Boat Tour

After breakfast at the lodge you will head for the city tour of the capital city where you will visit the following , Burundi Zoo, Independence Monuments , Cementary, local markets and after proceed to the lake Tanganyika for the Boat cruise on the lake and interaction with the local Fisher men  and women , later return to the lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge . Dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Airport.

Depending on the flight time , you will relax at the lodge in the morning hours and later the Safari guide will transfer you to Bujumbura international Airport.
