4 Days Gorilla & Nyiragongo Trek

Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes national park

Upon arrival , you will be picked up be Rwanda Safaris guide from Kigali International airport or any hotel in Kigali and embark on your city tour  to explore what the city of Rwanda has to offer including  the national museum, local markets, art and craft shops and Kigali genocide memorial. You will have your delicious lunch in Kigali and after you will start off your journey to Volcanoes national park for 3 hours journey to arrival at the lodge in the late evening , you will be checked in !

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience and Transfer to Congo

After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about the rules and regulations for Mountain Gorilla Watching . After, you will be assigned to the gorilla trekking family to trek and then start off the trail to the park rain forests by the lead of the experienced park ranger. As you look for the mountain gorillas, you will also spot a number of other species like birds, some primates, insects, and many others.

On finding the endangered mountain gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence as you enjoy their lifestyles like playing, grooming the young ones, breastfeeding and others. After, you will trail back to the headquarters and then drive back to the lodge for lunch, refreshment and transfer to Democratic Republic of Congo in the Goma City where you will Check in at Serena Hotel.

Day 3: Transfer to Virunga National Park for Nyiragongo hike

Have your early morning breakfast at the lodge and get picked up by the Safari guide for your transfer to Kibati station which is located within the Virunga National park , its the starting point for the nyiragongo hikes. The Nyiragongo hike takes about 5 to 7 hours depending on the physical fitness but no one is left out during the hike as lunch will be en route.

Upon the arrival at the summit, you will have amazing views of the Goma city, Virunga national Park and the mystical Rwenzori mountains in Uganda. You will also go for the greatest experience on the mountain where you will view the boiling lava lake. After observing the volcano, you will go for your dinner prepared by the local chef and porters and then overnight on the top of the volcano.

Day 4: Descend and drive back to Kigali

In the morning after breakfast, you will have your last taste of the Nyiragongo lava Viewing and start to descend passing through different vegetation zones and arrive at the starting point around mid-morning. You will then proceed with your transfer to Goma city for the simple city tour before heading to cross the border (Grande Barre border) . During the en route travel, you will have several stops for photography and beautiful sightseeing as you drive to Kigali International airport for your departure flight or any hotel for an overnight.
