10 Days Rwanda Gorilla Tour

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.

Upon arrival meet and greet will be done by Rwanda Safaris airport representative, you will meet your Rwanda Safaris guide at the arrivals terminals and you will proceed with the Kigali City tour to explore the uniqueness of Kigali the capital city of Rwanda. The Key areas to visit on the city tour include the museums, art and craft shops and the genocide memorial.

You will check in at the hotel after the simple city tour with your guide.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park

After your breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge for your transfer to Akagera national park which is the only destination in Rwanda for big five watching tour .  You will arrive at the park in the mid morning and head for the game drive where you will see various animals like Lions ,elephants, buffalos, giraffe, zebras, leopards, hyenas and antelopes like bush bucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck, roan antelope and duiker, impala .  In the Afternoon you will go for the boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will see various Bird and different wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos and others.  After, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive and Transfer back to Kigali

You will head for the morning break fast, you will go for morning game drive and as you plan to exist the park, drive to back to Kigali City . You will arrive in the late afternoon, enjoy another feel of the City Tour ( Night life of Kigali )  Later Check in for dinner and overnight

Day 4: Drive to Nyungwe forest national park

In the morning after breakfast, depart to Nyungwe forest national park. You will have an en route lunch in Huye and then visit the country’s national museum where you will learn more about the history, practices and traditions of the people of Rwanda. Arrive at the park in the evening hours and check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking experience and canopy walk

Have your breakfast and go for a chimpanzee trekking activity in Nyungwe forest where you will spot several species of primates like chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, colobus monkeys and others. Also, you will spot numerous bird species since the park hosts over 300 bird species.

For the chimpanzee trekking experience, it will begin with a per-trek briefing at the park headquarters where you will be given all the necessary information and instructions about the experience. After the brief, you will proceed to the park forests to search for the primates and once they are found, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their presence.

After trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch and later go for an optional canopy walk. The walk provides excellent views of the park forests.

Day 6: Transfer to Volcanoes national park

After your breakfast at the lodge and start on the journey to connect to Volcanoes National Park which is the home for the mountain gorillas, you will connect via Lake Kivu with the scenic view of Kibuye town and the Congo Nile trails and connect to Volcanoes national park. Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience

Wake up for your breakfast at the lodge and then meet your driver for your transfer to the headquarters of the park by 8 am for pre trek briefing where you will be told about the dos and don’ts during gorilla trekking experience. After, you will move to the park’s forests for the amazing adventure which is gorilla tracking. The experience involves hiking through the park rain forests in search of the endangered mountain gorillas.

The experience takes about 3 - 5 hours depending on the location of the assigned gorilla group. After the allocation of these species, you will be able to enjoy their daily lifestyles like playing, breastfeeding. Later after the activity, you will move back to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Cultural experience and transfer to Lake Kivu

Have your morning breakfast and go for a cultural experience in gorilla guardian’s village. In the experience, you will learn more about the Rwandan culture as you enjoy different practices like songs, folks, dances and others. From here, you will proceed to Lake Kivu for amazing water experiences.

Day 9: An experience at Lake Kivu

Wake up for breakfast and go for amazing experiences on the shores of the beautiful Lake Kivu. While at the lake, engage in different experiences like boat trip, kayaking. After the full day relaxation along the lake shores, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer to Kigali and departure

On the last day of the trip, you will start with your breakfast at the lodge and then embark on your journey back to Kigali for your departure flight.
